The New 540

WOW -- what a difference in commuting time this new highway makes! It used to take me an hour each way to get to and from work in North Raleigh. I live in Wendell and took a series of winding back country roads to cut over to North Raleigh each day. It would have been an enjoyable drive except for the fact that everyone else knew about these short cuts too, so there was a lot of heavy traffic and many bottle-neck areas.

Ever since the new section of 540 opened up my commute time has been almost cut in half! I can usually make it in 30-35 minutes now instead of an hour! The entrance to 540 in Wendell is just a few miles from my house then it's open highway all the way to Creedmoor Road in North Raleigh. I'm loving this new highway!

My only complaint is there were rumors of a Cracker Barrel Restaurant opening up near the Wendell exit; however, that never did happen. Very dissapointing, we need a good place to eat in Wendell.

Enjoy your ride on the new 540, but watch out for the cops...they are loving it too!
